Marokkaanse kip / Moroccan chicken

Mijn nieuwe recept van de afgelopen week was weer een recept dat ik vaak zal maken. Snel, makkelijk èn lekker! Ideaal voor een drukke week. Je huis wordt gevuld met de heerlijke geur van de ras el hanout en het mag ook wel in het hoofdstuk "troosteten", want het vult je met een warm gevoel...
Eigenlijk moet je het maken met couscous, maar daar doe ik Otto geen plezier mee, dus maakte ik er quinoa bij. Dit was er echt ook heel lekker bij, dus als je eens iets ander wilt proberen is dit een tip.
De Good Food was weer mijn inspiratiebron en op hun website vind je ook het recept van de marokkaanse kip .

My new recipe from last week was again a recipe I will be making many times. Fast, easy ánd tasty! Ideal for a busy week. Your house will be filled with the lovely smell of ras el hanout and it deserves a place in the chapter "comfort food", because it fills you with a warm feeling...
You should make it with couscous, but I don't make Otto happy with that, so I made it with quinoa. This was really very tasty, so if you are looking to try something a bit different this is a good idea.
Good Food was my inspiration once more and the recipe for this moroccan chicken can be found there.

Eerste schooldag / First day of school

Terug van een heerlijke vakantie in de bergen, weer in het gareel. Kinderen naar school en aan de slag! Ik had thuis ook een berg, maar dan van vuile kleding; de wasmachine draait overuren! Biebboeken terugbrengen, alle vakantiespullen opruimen, boodschappen doen...Langzaam komt er weer orde in de chaos. De kinderen waren helemaal zenuwachtig om weer naar school te gaan; mijn dochter was gisteren tot laat in de avond in de weer en mijn zoon zat vanmorgen aan het ontbijt bijna over te geven. Eenmaal op school was het toch weer leuk en waren ze weer blij.

Back from a relaxing vacation in the mountains, back in the normal routine. Kids to school and start the chore list for me! I had a mountain at home too, made of dirty laundry; the washing machine is doing overtime! Librarybooks back to the library, putting away all the camping equipment, groceryshopping...Slowly order comes out of the chaos. The kids were all nervous to go to school again; my daughter was up untill late yesterday and my son was almost sick during breakfast this morning. Once in school it was fun again and they were happy.

Mijn weekmenu ziet er als volgt uit:
My weekly mealplanning looks like this:

• Maandag: ovenaardappelen, bloemkool met kerriesaus, gehaktballen, griesmeelpudding met bramensaus toe (JAAAA, er zijn weer bramen in de tuin!!!)

Monday: oven potatoes, cauliflower with currysauce, meatballs, semolinapudding with blackberry sauce for dessert (YEAH, there are blackberries in the garden again!!!)

• Dinsdag (dagdienst): kip siam, komkommer, rest griesmeelpudding toe

Tuesday (dayshift): chicken siam, cucumber, leftover semolinapudding for dessert

• Woensdag: omelet met perzik en camembert, sla, vla toe

Wednesday: omelet with peaches and camembert, salad, custard for dessert

• Donderdag: NIEUW RECEPT: Marokkaanse kipschotel met quinoa (Otto lust geen couscous), fruit toe

Thursday: NEW RECIPE: Marrocan chickenstew with quinoa (Otto doesn't like couscous), fruit for dessert

• Vrijdag (nachtdienst): Citroenpasta, komkommer, vla en yoghurt toe

Friday (nightshift): Lemonspaghetti, cucumber, custard and yoghurt for dessert

• Zaterdag: Groentensoep, vla en yoghurt toe

Saturday: vegetablesoup, custard and yoghurt for dessert

• Zondag: Zelfgemaakte patat, kip, salade, bitterkoekjespudding toe

Sunday: Homemade french fries, chicken, salad, "bitterkoekjespudding" for dessert

Zaterdag heb ik ook een nieuw recept gemaakt, omdat ik zo blij was dat ik weer een oven tot mijn beschikking had: hartige muffins met walnoten en blauwe kaas. Leuk en lekker. (als je het recept wilt; laat even weten)

Saturday I made a new recipe as well, because I was so happy to be able to use an oven again; salty muffins with walnuts and blue cheese. It lokked an tasted good. (If you want the recipe; just let me know)

Zomervakantie / Summer vacation

De kinderen hebben vrij van school en het hele gewone schema van de dagen is weg. Lekker rustig, maar ook lastig om het huis enigszins ordelijk te houden. Maar dat is in deze tijd eigenlijk niet zo belangrijk; genieten van deze tijd is veel belangrijker! Otto heeft met de kinderen pannenkoeken gebakken op de dag dat ze vakantie kregen. De eerste vrije dag zijn we naar de Euromast geweest met hun oma en zondag naar het (koude) strand. En verder lekker spelen, alle tijd ervoor!

The kids are free from school and the normal day routine is far away. Nice and easy, but is difficult to keep the house in a reasonable state. But that is not so important, we should really enjoy this time! Otto made pancakes with the kids on the day their vacation started. Their first day off we went to the "Euromast" with their grandmother and sunday we went to a (cold) beach. And for the rest a lot of time to play!

Twee seizoenen in één weekend / Two seasons in one weekend

Wat een verschillende dagen waren zaterdag en zondag! Op zaterdag kwam ik uit de nachtdienst en leek het buiten wel herfst. We zijn lekker binnen gebleven in onze joggingpakken en hebben de kaarsjes aangestoken en lekker rondgehangen. Voor de tv gegeten, lekker weekend! Ik had een NIEUW RECEPT, uit de "boodschappen". Supermakkelijk, snel en vooral LEKKER. En echt comfortfood wat erbij hoort op zo'n dag. Het heet pasta roomtaart met kaas.
En dan zondag; WARM! Dus wat doe je op zo'n mooie dag? Natuurlijk; dan steek je de barbecue aan... Genieten van het mooie weer...Twee seizoenen in één weekend.

Two totally different days, saturday and sunday! On saturday I came out of the nightshift and it was like autumn outside. We stayed inside in our sweatpants and lit the candles and did nothing. Dinner in front of the tv, really weekend! I made a NEW RECIPE, from a magazine. Supereasy, real quick and most of all really DELICIOUS. Comfortfood, which is the best thing on a day like that. It is called pasta creampie with cheese.
And then sunday; WARM weather! So what do you do on a beautiful day like that? Of course; you put on the barbecue... Enjoy the great weather... Two seasons in one weekend.

Weekend; lekker voor de tv eten.../ Weekend; comfortfood in front of the tv...

400 gram pastaschelpjes / 400 grams pasta
2 bouillonblokjes / 2 stock cubes
4 eieren losgeklopt / 4 eggs beaten
200 ml crème fraiche / 200 ml crème fraiche
200 gram kaas (oude geraspte, blauwschimmel, geitenkaas of een mengsel) / 200 grams cheese of choise

Kook de pasta volgens instructies op verpakking in water met bouillonblokjes. Meng in een schaal de eieren, crème fraiche en kaas (ik deed er nog wat versgemalen peper door) en schep hier de uitgelekte pasta door. Stort in een ingevette ovenschaal en bak 30 minuten op 180 graden. Laat nog tien minuten rusten voor je gaat eten. Lekker met sla!

Cook pasta according to instructions in water with stock cubes. Mix in a bowl the eggs, crème fraiche and cheese (I added some ground pepper) and add the drained pasta. Put everything in a buttered heatproof dish and bake for 30 minutes at 180 celsius. Leave for 10 minutes before eating. It is really nice with a salad!

Schweizerdeutsch

Op youtube kwam ik deze filmpjes tegen in Schweizerdeutsch. Ik ben altijd dol op Otto, maar als hij Schweizerdeutsch praat nog net een klein beetje extra. In zijn hart een echte Zwitser met altijd heimwee naar de bergen. Hij wordt ook een ander mens als hij in de bergen is; zijn ogen gaan stralen en hij is helemaal in zijn element. Daarom zijn deze voor hem, ook al heeft hij soms "heimweh", hij is mijn "ewigi liebi", hopelijk zie ik die lichtjes in zijn ogen gauw weer...(en kan ik hem weer Schweizerdeutsch horen praten).

I found these clips on youtube in Schweizerdeutsch. I always adore Otto, but when he speaks Schweizerdeutsch just a little bit extra. In his heart he is a real Swiss guy who always feels homesick for the mountains. He becomes a different person when he is in the mountains; his eyes get a sparkle and he is totally in his element. These are for him, even though he sometimes has "heimweh" (homesickness) he is my ewigi liebi (eternal love), hopefully I will see that sparkle in his eyes real soon... (and can I hear him speak Schweizerdeutsch)

Einde van het schooljaar nadert / End of schoolyear is coming closer

Je weet dat de zomervakantie vlakbij is als je huis volstaat met schoolmateriaal om te soppen... Ik had onder andere een heleboel lego, wat ik in de wasmachine heb gedaan in een dichtgeknoopte sloop. De sloop was open gegaan tijdens het wassen..........(zucht)
Maar ja...BIJNA vakantie!!!

You know the summer holiday is near when your house is full of schoolmaterial to needs to be cleaned...I had amongst other things a lot of Lego, that I put in the washing machine in a pillowcase that I tied together. The pillowcase didn't stay closed during washing...................(sigh)
But hey...the summer holidays are ALMOST here!!!
